Günümüz dijital kültürü, kitapların büyülü ve derin dünyasını sessizce yok olmaya mahkûm ediyor. Raflarda duran her kitabın ardında, gecesini gündüzüne katan bir yazarın emeği var. Her harfe, her kelimeye, her cümleye, her sayfaya bırakılmış bir ışık var. Ama biz ne yapıyoruz?
YouTube’da gündem olan kehanetleri izliyoruz. İnsanların hayatını ve mahremiyetini çırılçıplak ortaya seren içeriklere tıklıyoruz. Sosyal medyada kim ne giymiş, ne yemiş, nereye gitmiş; ya da kimi nasıl alaşağı ederiz diye klavye başında ahkâm kesiyoruz. Çünkü bu daha kolay. Zahmetsiz. Emeksiz. “Ver coşkuyu, gitsin.”
Halk doğru mu anlamış, yanlış mı anlamış…
Gençlere, çocuklara doğru örnek mi olmuş, yanlış örnek mi olmuş…
Kimsenin umurunda değil.
Oysa kitaplar öyle değil.
Kitaplar, yolumuzu aydınlatan bir fener gibidir. Sabır ister, emek ister, saygı ister. Okurdan da, yayınevinden de, toplumdan da sorumluluk bekler.
Yazara ve eserine saygı duyalım.
Yayınevleri bir kitabı yayımlayıp, sonra yazarın emeğini çöpe atar gibi davranmasın.
Kitabın ve yazarın arkasında dursunlar ki; o yazarlar yeni eserler için ilhamını ve azmini kaybetmesin.
Çünkü kitaplar raflarda dursun diye yazılmıyor.
YouTube çekimlerinde dekor olsun diye hiç yazılmıyor.
Her kitabın içinde bir hayat var.
Binlerce ders, milyonlarca ışık var.

Books Are Not Décor — They Are Companions on the Road
Today’s digital culture is quietly condemning the magical, profound world of books to disappearance. Yet behind every book on a shelf lies a writer’s labor—someone who turns nights into days. In every letter, every word, every sentence, every page, there is a light left behind. But what do we do?
We watch prophecies that trend on YouTube. We click on content that lays bare people’s lives and privacy. On social media, we obsess over who wore what, ate what, went where— or we sit at the keyboard passing judgment on how to bring someone down. Because it’s easier. Effortless. Unearned. “Let the hype roll, and move on.”
Whether the public understood correctly or not…
Whether it set a good example for young people and children or a bad one…
No one seems to care.
But books are not like that.
Books are like a lantern that lights our way. They require patience, effort, and respect. They ask responsibility from the reader, from publishers, and from society.
Let us respect the writer and the work.
Let publishers not publish a book and then treat the author’s labor as if it were disposable.
Let them stand behind the book and the writer—so those writers don’t lose their inspiration and determination to create new works.
Because books are not written to sit on shelves.
They are never written to serve as props in YouTube videos.
Inside every book, there is a life.
Thousands of lessons. Millions of lights.
